This is Tzunukwa, the wild woman of the woods, She wanders the woods with a basket on her back seeking small children. If she finds a naughty child who has strayed from home she snatches them up and puts them in her basket. Then she returns to the deep woods and her house where she plans to eat the child. Fortunately she sleeps a lot after her forays after children, and most of the children are able to sneak away as she sleeps and return safely home.
This Tzunukwa was part of the incredible exhibit of North Coast Art at the Friday Harbor Art Museum. Fortunately, I saw the exhibit last week. It closes the day after labor Day. Sorry you missed it.
