The other day I got a visit from my neighbors, Anja Winter, and her father Tony. Anja had a 4th grade project. She was to make a globe of the earth. She wondered if it could be made of wood. Her dad agreed to buy the wood if I would turn a globe on my wood lathe. I suggested Basswood would work well, and the next day Tony arrived with a big board of Basswood. Now it is done.
And Anja has inscribed on the globe, the outlines of the continents. How is this for an almost 10 year olds introduction to Earth science?.
So here is Anja, with the world in her arms. What fun to have a workshop and neighbors like Anja.!!
