THIS MAGNIFICENT BLACK WALNUT stands on a hillock just north of town. the width of the trunk exceeds my outstretched arms. A limb broke off and fell recently and I plan to get a chunk of it for future ukulele necks. Having a wood addiction like mine is a dreadful malady. I must now find a chain saw and do great labor but walnut is strong stable and beautiful and my supply of it is running low. Making musical instruments from wood from a tree like this surely is a worthwhile use of it's fallen limb.
