I HAD A PLEASANT telephone conversation today with a fellow Ukulele builder. He was recovering from having made nine ukes at one time, all at once. He was cleaning up and re-organising his shop today, no wonder!
He related that at the height of production a friend had dropped into the shop and asked "what in the world are you doing, making bird houses?" Well, if you think about it, if you did'nt add strings and hung them from trees the birds might find ukes pretty enticing. My friend, slightly irritated replied, "What kind of birds would use a ukulele"
The visitor replied "Song Birds of course".
