I had forgotten how darned cute these little Pinecone sopranos are until today when I got the first of the six to the "all assembled stage" I glued on the Pinecone face plate and added the final two frets, shaped the neck and carved in the detail around the pinecone. It is now ready for the final sanding. Wow they are neat little instruments if I do say so myself. Not are they only tough wonderful travelers but they have amazing tone and volume. In the next few days I will have all six of them in this stage and then I look forward to nice hours in the sun doing the "perfection sanding" I have found nothing beats natural sunlight for seeing little blemishes that need to be sanded out.
Just imagine this little beauty with its bridge, multicolored strings, Peghed tuners and buffalo bone saddle and nut. They are truly a classic, and if my Mexican friend gets their gig bags done in time they will come with the perfect travel case. Stay tuned, it won't be long now. Five of them will be available, I am keeping one for myself this time.
