THREE NEW UKES ARE NOW FINISHED. I just strung them up yesterday- and I am pleased, they each came out very nicely, They each sound wonderful! But each in its own way. I have been experimenting with South Coast Strings. I asked Dirk Wormhoudt to suggest three of his string sets that might work well with these Concert Pinecones. He sent me three different sets, I put a different set on each of the ukes as follows.
UKE #34- Soft Light Medium
UKE #35- Light Medium Gauge
UKE #36-Soft Medium Gauge
Now comes the challenge of deciding which I like best. I am going to have Patrick Madsen come down and help me with that question. Pat is a fine musician and I respect his judgement. The strings make a distinct difference in the sound of these three ukes that should be as identical as I can make them. Previously I have put a low G on these very resonant ukes. These three are all strung Re-entrant so now I have four quite identical ukes all with different strings. I will let you know what Pat and I decide. In the meantime, these ukes are for sale, After my test period I would be happy to ship these out. They will make marvelous Christmas gifts.
