These ukes are beginning to develop the shine and luster that leads to their finishing touches. I seems as though you apply coat after coat of shellac and alcohol without significant change - and then all of a sudden you are finished. I expect in a couple more days the finish will be ready for a careful sanding with 600 grit wet and dry dipped into water with a tiny bit of detergent. I will sand to level out the surface, sand off any nasty spots and when dry add another coat or two of 2 pound cut. When that looks right it will be time for three or four applications of one pound cut, then the stringing up can begin.
