THE TRAVEL UKE!!

MARYA  AND I JUST GOT HOME from a four day jaunt to Washington DC.  I wanted to take along a uke and chose a just finished soprano "Pinecone" for the task.  What a tough and durable little guy to travel with.  I decided to put it to the extreme test and just stuck it in my brief case with no protection.  I figured if I scratched it up a bit a little French Polishing would bring it back to new.

Here it is just stuck in the bag waiting to head out the door.  The headstock and tuners stuck out of the bag but didn't really cause any problem.  It was handy and unobtrusive and very few people noticed it or commented on it.  I left a perfectly good gig bag at home on this experiment.  I was confident that the tough Sitka Spruce top and carved maple back and sides would stand up to whatever beating it might take.  It survived without a scratch or a ding, good as new.

On the airplane I just pushed the brief case, uke and all under the seat in front of me as I always do Taking care not to step on the Peg head,  It was easy, not a problem at all.

And when we got there I had a sweet little uke to play
