Look at this beautiful Sitka Spruce. This is the bottom side where the glue could not be wiped up and it spread over the saran wrap protecting the saw table. A few passes with the scraper cleaned off the excess glue.
Now it is clean and ready to work with. I will start with laying on the design
Here is the pattern cut from some newsprint. stuck on with tape so it won't change position as I scribe around the edge with a pencil | 
And here it is cut out on the band saw, with a quarter inch to spare around the edges. I have not cut the rosette in yet, That is just the walnut rosette I will be using laid in the approximate position on the top. Maybe I will get the router going tomorrow and install the rosette and cut the sound hole. |
