George Woodruff visited my shop today from down Seattle way. He was as fascinated by the varying sounds of my newly invented "shakers" as I have been. Here is a fun video of George listening to the sounds of differing woods.
These "shakers" are all built around the same mold. Each has 25 dried madrona berries to make the rattle, They are as identical as I can make them except for the different woods. Fascinating, each wood has its own distinctive sound. So when you buy a ukulele, think of the kind of wood you are buying. It makes a difference.
