An extra sound hole in the side of the uke sends sound to the player, a big help in a loud jam. I put them in each of my ukes.
A veneer patch is glued to the side to prevent a split and then the hole is cut
An oval ring of contrasting wood is fitted into the hole and secured with thin superglue.
Then the oval ring must be trimmed down flush both inside and out with exacto knife, curved carving knife and sanding stick.
After about an hours work the side sound port is installed.
