I JUST RECEIVED A SHIPMENT of these excellent ukulele pickups and before installing them in clients ukes I thought you might like to see what they look like. Wonderfully compact and battery free they allow you to play your uke through an amplifier or a P.A. system. Great if you ever get a chance to perform but also helpful as a practice tool. You will find that with amplified sound over a simple amp or Kareoke machine you hear your play better and find yourself striving for better individual notes.
The strap button on the left is all you see on the exterior of your uke. The round device is a Capacitor which stores the electrical charge and powers an amplifier for up to 16 hours of playing time. You charge it by inserting the charger for a mere 60 seconds. The Coax cable headed out of the picture to the right leads to the flat tip of the L.R. Baggs pickup which sits in the slot under your saddle. The mechanism seen here is only 3 1/4 inches long and so light that you would never notice when added to your instrument. The pickup fits neatly into a 1/8th inch saddle slot.
Here is the whole works. the charger plugs into a 110 house circuit, the prong is inserted for 60 seconds and the pre-amp is charged and ready to go. What a super system, and you can install it yourself with an electric drill and a couple of drill bits although I would strongly advise you use a "step drill bit" for the 1/2 inch end hole. Instruction videos are available on You Tube. I have decided to stock a few for those that might like to power up their ukes.
