THE MEXICAN MYSTERY MANDO

THIS IS THE CUTEST THING.  This wonderful gift from the neighbor is a musical instrument once again.  I made a bridge from a scrap of ebony and a piece of buffalo bone, put some lovely Aurora concert strings on it, and sure enough it makes music.   The scale length is identical to that of a concert uke, so I used concert strings.  I first put on four with a re-entrant high G.  It sounded OK but kind of weak  Then I added a low g string, so the first pair are an octive apart.  That added greatly to the sound.  That is where it is now.  I will double some more of these strings in the coming days as I play with this pretty and interesting "little guitar".  Maybe it needs metal strings and Mandolin tuning but I don't know how to play a mandolin so I am trying to bring it into the ukulele world.  It is not bad now,  I think if I add more strings it will become a great little strummer.  If nothing else, it cuter than heck and chubby as can be.
