THE BIG POST has been turned, the next challenge is the 3/4 inch diameter piece that will slide in the hole I will drill in that post. This piece includes half of the round friction plate that will allow for adjusting the angle of the music rack. Look back at the plan a couple of posts ago and you can make sense of this turning. I sanded it just a tiny bit thinner than 3/4 inch and hopefully it will just slide up and down in the vertical post of the music stand.
So here is today's progress on the music stand. Only worked on it for an hour or so but I am feeling really good about how this is coming together. I think I will make the music rack next and attach the mate for this friction plate to figure in detail how it will work. I will drill a pivot hole through both plates and join them with a wooden screw with threads cut by a neat tool I have had for years As you tighten the wooden threaded "bolt" the rack is locked into the angle you desire. This is a fun project to try and figure out. The ultimate result awaits.
