In the afternoon I drove though the lovely spring countryside to Lynden Washington where I had been asked to speak to the Docent group of the remarkable new JANSEN ART CENTER. The community of Lynden with the help of the Henry Jansen Foundation has converted their old City Hall into a wonderful regional art center that will provide classes and artists space in the entire range of cultural activities including Music, Painting, Dance, Sculpture, Weaving, Jewelry making, Ceramics, and they have spaces dedicated to each and every art. It is an amazing transformation of two large old buildings.
In addition they have a gift shop, several gallery and exhibition spaces. Behind the big doors where Lynden's two fire trucks used to repose will be a coffee shop and concert space. Last week the Calidore Quartet an incredible chamber music group performed there and declared the acoustics terrific.
I am happy to announce that their gift shop has one of our House and Mill soprano "Pinecones" for sale.
Here Art Center secretary Sue Lobland, Thea Mancha and another docent chat with me about my ukuleles.
