THE FRETBOARDS ARE ON.

After a flurry of activity, the fretboards are now glued on all four tenors and looking good.  Here is a flurry of photos taken during the process.

I am not much for Bling on my ukuleles but I am a sucker for Paua Abalone. the holes are drilled on the drill press and here are the dots ready to glue in

A cool way to scoop up glue over spill is with a plastic straw cut like this.  Scoop the glue and wipe off the straw.

With an awl the exact location for dots is marked.

Boring,  Installing frets is not my favorite task.

Notice the little brads tacked into holes drilled in the two empty fret slots.  That is how you hold the fretboard in position when glueing.

The fretboards are tacked into place and glued and clamped.
The next task is the final shaping of the necks,  This is a crucial task which will determine the playability of the instrument.  We want the neck slim and slick and fast.

Hi Brian,

Just curious. What is the reasoning for bringing the fret board to the sound hole, even though it is not fretted? Aesthetic or structural?
