Before I glue the peg head plate on I must be sure I have a g properly inlayed.  It is really easy to mess this up so caution is the rule. First you draw the area to be cut out on the spalted maple.

The peg head plate is held steady with double backed tape on a chunk of scrap plywood. this was the first pass through.  Now it gets tougher.

Here is the tool to hold the Dremel and its tiny engraving bitt as you carve the inlay cavity.

The g is installed and held there with a liberal dose of thin super glue that seeps around the edges and the the floor of the inlay. this will look a lot better with a little cosmetic work and some sanding.

SEE -I TOLD YOU IT WOULD LOOK BETTER.

So after lots of sanding I started the French Polish today.  It is already beginning to look good.  Bubinga really takes a nice finish.

To top off the day, the postman brought my order of ten sets of the great Peghed tuners.  Modern, geared tuners that only look like they are old fashioned.

And these are very special.  They each have a real Ebony thumb knob.  The next ten instruments are going to have lovely wooden tuner knobs.

Here I am checking to be sure that this special batch of tuners fit perfectly in the hole made by my 3% auger.  Happy to say that the fit is tight and perfect.  These Ebony knobs are beautiful.
