A RAINY DAY spent in the workshop. I got the last two concerts strung. Curious about these pretty little ukes i used three different sets of strings.
#42 got a set of Southcoast linear (low G) extra light with no wound strings. I reported on the last blog that I liked. fun to play, light, not terribly loud, precise and they seem easy to play because they are very pliable.
#4o got a pair of colored Auroras made with Aquila strings. Colorful and fun with four colors, they are re-entrant or high C. Bright and loud. So far, my least favorite of the three but the uke is great.
# 41, the cedar top got a set of Southcoast medium gauge linear strings w/round wound basses. I think this is the string for a concert if you want low G. Rich, resonate, powerful. Makes this uke sound like a tenor. I prefer rich deep sound and the combination of these strings and my wonderful cedar make this a terrific sounding uke.
I am going to put a set of these great strings on one of the spruce tops and see what happens.

This is the cedar top #41. Australian Blackwood back and sides, Mahogony neck, Ebony fretboard and master grade cedar top. Rosewood binding
This is #40. a "Blonde" so called because of the Alaska Cedar neck and the Englemann Spruce top which contrast beautifully with the darker Blackwood back and sides. Amazing figured blackwood binder makes it all jump. The fretboard is a pretty piece of lacewood that works with a bubbly spalted maple peg head plate. Of course they all have the 4/1 gear ratio Peghed tuners.
#40 with the lacewood fret board and colored strings. This is a really pretty uke and will mature into a beautiful sounding instrument.
I have decided to offer all of the concerts for $900.oo. They will be ready for delivery in about a week . Then I will put them in the Available Instruments page of the website.
