The whittling is over for this build. All the braces and tone bars are made, sanded and ready to glue on. Before I do that however, I must make some tough walnut braces for the bridge pins to run through. You can see where it will go, transversely across the uke just under the tone bars. Don't be confused by this picture. Only one of these goes on this top, I am showing you the braces and tone bars for three ukes.
Once I glue these onto the top and back I will do the final thinning with a sharp curved chisel. They need to be thin enough at the ends to vibrate and make sound.
