Now that the top and sides have been sanded perfectly flat I am able to glue the backs on. Be very careful to position them perfectly, and don't forget to glue in your label that will show through the sound hole. Now apply the glue and clamp top and back together with these long rubber bands. The bands apply remarkable pressure and are a very effective clamping device.
Once the glue sets up you must take rasp and sandpaper to the joining edges. Round them nicely and fair the joints perfectly smooth. I start with a fairly aggressive rasp and then change down to a very smooth rasp, then finish up with sandpaper.
One last shot of a peaceful moment on San Juan Island last weekend. Nothing like sitting on a log playing your uke by the beautiful sea.
