Here are the Koa sides of Trey's uke curing in the mold after being successfully bent today. I bend one side at a time, let it cool in the bender and then remove it to this mold to further season. This keeps it in the proper bend. Since I usually take one day to bend a pair of sides these koa sides will sit in the mold for about 24 hours until I get the first of the next pair bent. When I take the sides out of the mold I will clamp them together in this position with clamps at head and tail for a few more days just to be cautious. probably not necessary but I do it anyhow.
I finished the new "blonde " sides yesterday, these Koa's last night and today, tomorrow I will bend the Claro walnut sides of Dave's uke. keep your fingers crossed.
