These small oval holes on the up side of the ukulele direct sound up to the player, a vast benefit when you are playing in a jam with lots of other noisy musicians. You can hear yourself !
This one is glued into Paul's uke but not yet sanded flush. It will blend with binding and fretboard.
Here is Margaret's uke with its brand new sound port. With the two sound holes being completed I can put the backs on these two tenors.
Once I have done a little sanding to level the tentalones the back can be glued on,
