RECEIVED the shipment from Stew-Mac today including the second stainless steel bending slat that I wanted to use in these up-coming bends. Tomorrow will begin the "big bend".
The butt plates are now glued on, there is no logical reason why I should delay bending the sides. It is time to get at it.
This is the new, and hopefully improved bender sitting on high legs, equipped with springs rather than threaded bolts. I plan to experiment a bit with temperatures, amount of water, sandwiches of paper, aluminum foil and metal bending sheets. I have 6 pairs of very thin very curly maple to bend. Curley maple is always difficult to bend without breaking-so I am ready to sacrifice all of these to find the answers because I love to use it as uke sides. Wish me luck
