I sanded the back and side pieces down a bit farther this morning, down to the point where I wanted to glue the backs together before sanding them to the final .075 thickness.
Then I selected the Mastergrade Redwood that I will be using for soundboards. This is the wood from the New York City rooftop water tank. What wonderful fine grained Redwood. It tests with a high pitched ring.

Count the growth rings per inch. Wow!
Now it is time to glue the backs together. The joint has to be perfect, and this is how I do it. I put a long strip of sandpaper on the flat saw table top and slight the rip fence over it. Now I can sand the edge using the rip fence to keep it at 90 degrees. Remember to sand in only one direction. Back and forth sanding will result in dipped ends.
