I am getting close to finishing a new build of three tenor ukuleles. Thought you might like to see what they are looking like.
This uke has a redwood soundboard, ebony fretboard and some really nice East Indian Rosewood on back and sides. The rosette is walnut with b/w/b purling on either side and the binding is a light Australian Blackwood.
It will have an ebony bridge with unbleached buffalo nut and saddle.

This Rosewood takes on a heck of a shine. I have a ways to go yet but it is beginning to look pretty good. French Polish takes lots of time, but I really like the finished product and I think it makes the ukes sound better.
I make my instruments with Spanish Necks and thus I am able to get this nice thin "hook" carved . The Honduran Mahogany came as a one inch plank, thus there are two lamination seams in this part of the neck. They are pretty hard to see.
Spalted Maple and the ghave become my signature peg head I guess. I love the variety and complexity and sometimes crazy look of spalted maple, and I have a lot of it. I will put Peghed tuners on this uke . The instrument is already spoken for. Hope it sounds as good as the last Redwood/Rosewood uke did. I will know soon.
