Not a lot of time in the shop today, but got a few hours. Tomorrow will be better.
This is the jig that guides the end cut for the inlay. the Ukulele gets clamped gently in the vise to hold it steady. The jig is clamped to the end of the instrument and the router is set to the proper depth
The router bitt projects through the guide at just the depth to cut away the back the exact depth of the thickness of the side wood. this setting had better be right, or trouble ensues.
Hot dog!, It was perfect. Now I can insert an inlay nicely.
So here is the channel it cuts, which I will fill with a pretty piece of wood and purfling to join up with the purfling around the rest of the uke.
I also bent quite a few pieces of binding today in preparation for attaching binding tomorrow. This is an all important event as the binding must be right There will be lots of black /white /black purging laid in with it. Tomorrow ought to see that accomplished.
