I am going to build a Tenor Pinecone ! These Pinecones with their Englemann Spruce tops and carved, 1 inch sides, and concave flame maple backs have been hugely popular. First there was the soprano travel uke seen on the right. Then I decided to upscale the size to the Concert seen in the center. It was an entirely different instrument with much deeper tone and volume. I have long thought of trying a tenor- I calculate its string length is 25% greater than the Soprano, so I have blown up the smaller plan by that percentage. I will put a tenor neck and strings on it. Perhaps make the concave back 1/4 inch deeper, and I suspect this might be a great sounding instrument. It will be a fun experiment so stay tuned as I will post progress.
