FED X BROUGHT ME a shipment of Mi-Si pickups today. I often install them in ukuleles for folks and was running out. Do you know about these remarkable pickups? The model I buy is made especially for ukes and works wonderfully well. Light weight, un-obtrusive, and provides a good strap button at the only place on your uke where it is visible.
The remarkable feature is the fact that there is no battery. Power is stored in a capacitor which is charged with a 60 second insertion of the power plug into the end jack. That loads the capacitor for 15-16 hours of play. It seems to hold it's charge forever. I have a uke that I seldom play with electric help. After four or five months of being idle when I hook it to the amp it plays like a champ.
Mi-Si has changed the color of its jack from chrome to a dark brown finish. I think it an improvement but still have two of the bright ones if anyone prefers them.

On the left, the power plug. The prong is inserted into the jack for just 60 seconds to fully charge the capacitor.
The silver cord is the pickup which is led up through the bridge and lays under the saddle picking up the vibrations which are conveyed to the amplifier as music.

Here is a close-up of this cool tool. The capacitor is the blue rimmed dime sized circular device. I have no idea what else we are looking at- I only know that it works really well. This jack shows the new dark anodized strap button.
Here is the shiny bright old model- which would you like best on your uke?
