Today the Community Players had a gig at the Leopold Retirement Center, a historic old Bellingham Hotel now serving as senior retirement living. We met to play at the lovely Crystal Ball Room, once the social center of this City. Great acoustics, great ambiance, great history. We were all excited to be there and 14 dedicated uke players showed up
Here we all were on this lovely spring day, with Pat Madsen, our leader in the center with the spruce top baritone and the red sweater,
Here is another shot of the Players, we were all having fun and waiting for the audience of residents to arrive. The director of activities had set up perhaps fifty chairs and we were expecting a huge audience in this storied ball room.
Alas, only four people appeared as our audience. It seemed that all the residents were out enjoying this wonderful spring day. Non-plussed we proceeded to play our entire program with great joy and enthusiasm, and among the audience was a great character who called herself "Naughty Marietta". I asked her to take a video and here is her production. She was indeed a character, as you will see.
