MAKING NECKS TODAY

I am beginning the final steps in the long process of making a baritone neck with an Ironbark center strip.  After glueing the three pieces together the shape is cut out on the band saw, and now the carving begins.  First with a chisel

Next with the Surform rasp and then with a regular rasp

And now the neck is almost ready to be put on a soundboard.  Its final shaping is done after the fret board is attached.
