With three ukuleles almost boxed up, I have selected the wood for #s 135, 136 and 137.  All spectacular East Indian Rosewood from a fortunate purchase from a former guitar maker last  year.  Which would you choose?

No.1
Spectacular grain, the sides might be hard to bend.  I should charge extra for this amazing wood.

No. 2
still looking rough from the band saw, but when finished this will be lovely and unique

beautiful wavy grain, should make a spectacular instrument. A wonderful set of wood.
I invite the three folks who have ordered these tenors to choose the sets which they like best. Please send me your first, second, and third choice.  you know who you are.  The first person who ordered will get their pick and so on.  I hope each of you gets your choice.  They are all terrific sets, I have never had better East Indian Rosewood.  Even if you are not one of the three that have ordered a tenor, let me know your preference , always interesting to see different tastes .  Comment on the blog please.

I almost made a mistake today.  Intent upon boxing up #133 & 134 I was sawing the notches for the back braces and about to glue on the backs, when I remembered I had not yet installed the side sound ports.  That wants to be done before the backs go on.  Fortunately I remembered, so I cut a couple of pieces of dark colored veneer and glued them as backing patches inside.  The grain of the patch is crosswise with the grain of the side, assuring there will never be a split at the side sound port.  the sound ports will go on tomorrow and then the two ukes will get their backs.

Beautiful meticulous work and the wood I chose even as a second choice, was exactly the wood I would have chosen given first option! Very exciting to watch the evolution of a fine instrument. I look forward to watching your progress. Thank you Brian.
