JAKE Shimabukuro played the Mt Baker Theater tonight. His appearance at the pre-show in the adjoining Walton Theater was questionable and so I was asked to substitute. Imagine being asked to substitute for Jake Shimabukuro! I agreed to bring a display of ukuleles and do a talk about the history, variety and building of ukuleles and maybe lead the audience in a little "Crawdad Song" Thankfully, an hour before the event I got a phone call. Jake would be happy to speak at the pre show. WHEW! that was a relief. I got there a little late to find Jake speaking beside a display of my ukuleles-and to my delight he picked up my baritone and strummed a few chords. I was thrilled to get this photo. I cannot quite claim that Jake plays Griffin Ukuleles- but at least I can claim that he has touched one.
His show was a rousing success and the 1,700 seat theater was sold out. What a night, what a photo.
