Everything else on these ukuleles is done so it is time to shape the nuts. First you must get it snug in the slot. Usually takes a little sanding to get it perfect. Then a pencil split in half is laid over the frets and advanced to mark the height of the frets. The strings will want to be about where that pencil line is drawn
And there it is, Notice the nice curve. That depicts the shallow radius of the fretboard and frets.
This shows it better. Now we must saw off the excess just a bit above that line.
And that is done carefully with a jewelers saw.
And now, with a little work with a file, the nuts are ready to be notched for the strings, but that comes later.
And these beauties are complete. It is time for the French polish
