ISLAND TIME

No better place to be on the 4th of July than on San Juan Island.  We have joined our daughter and son in law at their summer home for the holiday.  As always, there is a ukulele twist to the story.  Last year I built a tenor uke using juniper trimmed from a branch of an old tree on their property and scraps of Cumeru, a hard wood used for their new deck.  I sat today on that deck playing that uke and comparing it to my current favorite.

Here they are,  The Cumuru-juniper on the right,  East Indian/Redwood on the left. The Cumuru uke is pretty good, but not on the same level as its companion.  It was  great to play them looking over the water.

Took a walk today on the lagoon beach.  Beautiful country.  Might try to paint this tomorrow.

Heres the view from the deck, this will make you want to make beautiful music.
