Made an error on the fretboard of this long necked tenor and had to replace it.
But first I had to get the old one off. Got it done with the aid of a very sharp spokeshave and lots of time and cussing. the final touches with a scraper. Now to calculate fret locations for a 16 inch scale.
Takes a little calculating. You divide the length from fret to saddle by 17.817 again and again to get the distance between each fret.
the calculations were marked on a piece of stiff paper and taped to the fretboard. The marks were lined up carefully with the saw slot and then run through the saw. I was pleased with the result.
Here is the new fretboard sitting on its uke. It is yet to be radiused and then will be attached.
Meanwhile Rick is sawing out a neck for another Concert we are building
And Debbie's tenor is boxed, trimmed and about to get it's binding grooves cut.
All Done. The bindings go on tomorrow
