I failed to include the installation of the edge dots This looks a bit tricky because the edge is so narrow. The secret is simply to mark the spot that you want to drill the hole with the sharp point of an awl. Do it gently lest you split the edge but make a deep enough mark so that the drill tip will find and follow it. Then do the drilling with a hand drill, very slowly and carefully. It is really quite easy.

I push the Mother of Pearl dots down flush as possible with the flat handle of the tweezer that I pick them up with | I drop a bit of glue in the hole using a piece of wound wire ukulele G string to hold the liquid glue. drop it in the hole and follow it with a mother of pearl dot. Here is the Awl that I use to make the starting hole. Be sure you center it. You will find that the drill bit will start digging just where you made the Awl mark. |
