Here is an ebony heel cap fresh from the bandsaw, and fitted to the curve of the body. I have decided to put a white layer between the cap and neck so you see a piece of maple veneer sandwiched between them here. this is plenty simple. Just glue them together and start whittling.
Here is where it gets a little more complicated. Trimming the heel and cap to the shape you want will take a sharp blade, maybe a rasp, maybe even a dremel with grinder if you get desperate. But take care to make it look right,
