DISASTER STRIKES

The old reliable Hot Pipe has died.  Just as I was finishing the bend on Ree's ukulele sides I sensed that it was cooling.  Sure enough, the soldering iron I used for heat in side it died.

Here is the burned out heating element, really a heavy duty soldering iron.  And so I have ordered another, even one that will get a little hotter.  Price $198, a pretty fancy soldering iron.

But, wow! I got a great bend on the sides.  I took it out of the mold today after two days of drying.  Perfect !!

And now it must be trimmed at both ends to perfectly fit into the neck slots and take the proper shape on the soundboard before gluing down.  These sides are fitting like gloves.
