Each build cycle begins with choosing the wood. It is always a pleasant time making the aesthetic choices that have such an effect on the final product, both tonally and appearance wise. On the right will be another Blonde. Englemann Spruce with a spalted maple rosette and Australian blackwood strongly figured binder. Light koa back and sides with no cross grain figure but pleasing "down the grain" figure. Alaskan Cedar neck which will match the top and contrast nicely with the koa and the Rosewood fret board and gold frets. I just loved the last Blonde I made and look forward to this one.
The other two will have master-grade cedar tops for its great tone, one a koa rosette, the other spalted maple to match the peg head plates. Sides and back will be dark heavily cross figured koa that should be spectacular when paired with a Mahogony neck and ebony fret board. The binders will be figured maple for contrast.
Each uke will have a radiused fretboard and gold hued frets. I will install Peghed tuners on all unless someone pre-orders and specifies some other tuner. Next project, cutting the channel and installing the rozettes. Now to work!
