Been spending a lot of time with my friend lately, A book launch last week, receiving and distributing books, and some family matters have kept me out of the workshop. Finally got back to it today. If you would like to see the one hour book launch video go to youtube.com and search "Village Books Brian Griffin". I had lots of fun doing it. The book is "The Donovan Diaries" the biography of JJ Donovan, the fellow I am seen here visiting.
I took this picture as I left the workshop a few minutes ago, with all that stuff on the table.
Seems like the French Polish on these four ukes is taking forever, but the two Pinecones are just about there and ready to get their bridges, tuners and strings. Maybe a couple more days. The tenors, Lloyds and Joes, are beginning to get some shine. and in the background you can see Paul and Stephen's ukes in their beginning stages.
I need to put these patches on the underside of both soundboards to prevent possible splits or separations. i cut them from hard maple veneer. tough but thin and light
The final job of the day was to shape and attach the butt blocks on both 144 and 145. The redwood is Pauls #144,
The blonde spruce behind it is Stephen's 145.
