The good news is that the last and only piece of Honduran Rosewood that I had for a side bent successfully today. Here it is all glued and clamped to become the sides for #81. Whew, that was a relief.
And here is the Brazilian Rosewood, #82. It is looking very good, most of the tentalones glued in and ready for more. I have to make a batch of them tomorrow.
But now for the bad news. I mentioned in an earlier post that the East Indian Rosewood had bent beautifully. This morning when I went to install it I discovered that I had bent both sides the same way. There is a top and a bottom to these things and the sides are a pair, not identical. I bent two identical sides. Not a tragedy, Now I have two very nice left hand sides. I must cut, thin and bend a right hand side before I can proceed with #80. Oh well, fortunately I have some more East Indian Rosewood. Easy to make a mistake like this, but you know the old carpenters rule, "measure twice before you cut" well the luthiers rule must be, check twice and maybe three times before you put those sides in the bender.
Some more good news. Just got an order for purchase of the last of these rosewood tenors so all three have homes to go to. If they are like the previous Rosewood/Redwood tenors, there will be some very happy owners. I am thrilled with the way #79 is playing. That master-grade Redwood is living up to my expectations.
