BENDING A SIDE

I am building another trio of Concert Pinecones.  The narrow sides of tiger stripe maple are usually bent three at a time but  I broke one and had to cut and bend another.  Here it is in the second stage.  First I bend the broad curve but the red heat blanket is not long enough to go entirely around the form, thus I re set the blanket, turn over the form and as a second step bend the sharp curve at the top of the uke.  That is  where the breakage will occur.  Once the bend is made I clamp it down and bring the blanket up to heat and then let it cool in the form.  Then it will hold it's shape.
