BEARCLAW BEAUTY

If you are lucky, you can once in awhile find some Sitka Spruce with "Bearclaw".  These strange marks in the wo0d simulate what a bear would do if he were to claw the wood.  I think it adds spectacular character to an instrument and I am delighted that this baritone I plan to keep for my own has some lovely "Bearclaw".  take a look.

Bearclaw hardly shows on an unfinished piece of wood, but the more French Polich you apply the more it reveals itself.

Here is a closer look at it.  Do you find it as interesting as I do?
And now lets turn this bari over and see what is on the other side.

the back and the sides are Bubinga.  This pretty figured wood is reputed to be excellent acoustic instrument wood.  I will tell you what I think when we get it strung up.  At this point I can testify that it is sure pretty.

Don't you agree ?

That is spectacular Bear Claw and Bubinga Brian. Gonna be a great instrument and looking forward to playing it.

Glad you are finally keeping one for yourself.
