THE TENORS are now ready for their fret-boards. The number of clamps I own limits to one board glued on a day, I just glued and clamped the last of them and here is what it looks like as it sets up
Once the glue is set the uke goes into the Parrot Vice with cork jaws and the neck shaping begins. First I take the neck sides down close to the fretboard with a fine wood rasp. then using the rasp, scrapers and a bow sander the neck is brought down to dimensions that feels slick and fast. I like a C shaped neck, some folks like a D shape.
I bought this fancy scraper recently from StewMac. I like it a lot, stays sharp, has a variety of shapes, both flat and curved, and it fits nicely in the hand. It is quite thick as you can see, far thicker than any scraper I have used.
The rounded section allows you to shape those concave areas of an instrument neck.
