This afternoon I had the great pleasure of attending a get together of luthiers hosted by guitar maker George Thomas in his Bellingham workshop. Attending were luthiers such as Dake Traphagen and Stan Miller, masters of their craft, and I had the rare treat of meeting Ron Fernandez a man with extensive two generational experience with acoustic instruments. An importer of fine guitars, a luthier, and as you will see, a player of considerable expertise.
Four of us brought tenor ukuleles that we had recently built Mr. Fernandez was kind enough to play each one of them for us. Here he is playing a just finished tenor made by Bellingham luthier Michael Flaherty. Fernandez made each of the ukes sound wonderful.
Wow! Wouldn't you love to be able to play like that. It is a true thrill to hear a really good player playing an instrument you have made. Thank you Ron Fernandez, it was a pleasure and an honor to meet you.
