This concert was returned to the workshop to have strap buttons installed, hadn't seen it since I built it in January of 2017 but I remembered its ringing chime like sound . The back and sides are Cocobolo, the soundboard is wonderful old Western Red Cedar that I salvaged from a log floating in Lake Whatcom fifty years ago.
This was my 99th instrument, the curly Koa binding sets off the incredibly tight grained cedar. There are about 300 growth rings across the wide part of the bout. Cocobolo is extremely dense hard wood which heightens the chiming sound of this old cedar.
It has been very well cared for, not a scratch on it. I will add the strap buttons with great care, a very pretty little instrument. Fun to see it again.
