A NEW BEGINNING !
The tenors are completed, the last one shipped off to Texas today.  Time to get a new project started
Picture
Here is the neck for the new 2 string base.  It is a  lovely and thick piece of flame maple cut from a big slab of lovely wood provided by the boys at Pacific Rim Tonewood.  I just cut it out this afternoon-you can see the remaining piece of the 2.1/4 thick chunk on the saw table in the background.  This made the bandsaw groan a little, but it cut it true and fine.  First order of business will be to install a carbon fiber rod in it.

Here it is on the work bench- the carbon fiber stiffener laying on top of it.  I will incise a thin groove in the top of the neck with a router and then embed this stiffener in the groove with epoxy.  I plan on carving this neck down pretty thin and I don't want it to be moving on me.  This is going to be fun ! ! !
