HERE ARE THE CONCERTS, all boxed up, the edges trimmed, they are ready for their bindings and now we have an aesthetic decision to make. Which binding should I use? I have some lovely fiddleback maple with a bit of black /white/ black trim that contrasts nicely with the darkerAustralian Blackwood. I am also considering some plain brown rosewood with black/white/black trim. The great temptation is the tiger-striped Australian blackwood with a white/brown/black purfling that I really like. Any of them would be great. I have already made the decision for the two blondes . they are going to get the blackwood binding. I used it on the last tenor Blonde and it looks wonderful with the koa and spruce.
The question is about the cedar top in the foreground. Which binding to use? I hope Mark the landscape architect from Seattle is reading the blog because he spoke for the cedar top. I would be ok with either of these three bindings but I will leave the decision to you. I failed to get your phone number or your address so if you see this let me know your choice. The following pictures will give you some guidance.
Here is the australian blackwood binding. this picture accentuates the contrast, it is not quite this bold.
This is the rosewood, a dark and lovely subtle contrast with the cedar and blackwood.
Here is the greatest contrast. Tiger-stripe maple with a black/white/black purling. This looks really nice too.
SO IT IS YOUR CHOICE MARK!. CALL ME IF YOU SEE THIS. I WILL WAIT A DAY OR THREE TO DO THE CEDAR TOP'S BINDING. IF I DO NOT HEAR FROM YOU I WILL MAKE A DECISION AND JUST HOPE YOU LIKE IT WHEN YOU DO CONTACT ME.
