It is Saturday- my Grandson Evan came up from Seattle to spend a day in the workshop so he could work on his new idea, So far a secret.  we had a fun day together.  He made progress and so did I.

I am planning on putting  on the sides today, so this will be the last chance to thin down the top braces.  I have been thinking they looked a little too stout.

I have glued on the left side.  I am doing it one side at a time as I don't have enough long clamps to stretch the distance.  So far so good.  It fits well and is clamped tight to the top.

With the side glued up and drying I turned my attention to the fingerboard.  I gradually sanded a concave camber in the top surface and glued the East Indian Rosewood board onto the neck. It dutifully took the proper bend.  I hope it is enough.  I measured the curve on a very good viola and copied its curve on my twice as long fingerboard calculating for the longer length.  With the fingerboard glued on I then took the spokeshave to it to fair it to the neck.

After dinner we went back to the workshop.  The left side glue had set up nicely and so I installed the right side.  Now I can look forward to adding the rest of the tentalones and finally seeing what this bass is going to look like.
I guess the next puzzle will be adding the neck and calculating its angle.  Now it gets complex.
