Stuart Fuchs, Great ukulele player, musician, entertainer and teacher is on tour in the Pacific Northwest. last Saturday in Bellingham, tomorrow, in Anacortes, then to Port Townsend. To my great pleasure today he spent two and a half hours in my workshop.
He was delighted with my Kasha tenors and to my immense pleasure he commissioned me to build him one. What a thrill for any luthier to build an instrument for a nationally prominent figure like Stu Fuchs. His tenor will of course be of the Kasha design with a body of my best East Indian Rosewood, A top of the wonderfully resonate Redwood from New York City water tanks, a Honduran Mahogany neck with ebony radiused fretboard, a MiSi pickup and a few other embellishments. I plan on starting it later this week.
When Stu plays the instrument truly comes alive. He played a number of the ukes in my shop and I got some wonderful video of him. Unfortunately each segment is too long to post and I need to figure out how to shorten it up. I will do my best to do so because I want you to hear his amazing playing. I offered to loan him my #100 to play tomorrow at his Anacortes concert and I was thrilled when he accepted. THIS WAS TRULY A DAY TO REMEMBER !!
